Volunteer fair ready for another year
Not all Heroes wear Capes is the job fair slogan
The second annual volunteer
fair will be a happening and The place to be this month. Barb Miller has put together a program to help those who want to help but
are not sure where to begin. The fair will/can help people like you who wish to be a part of this.
In a press release
Barb Miller says;
Many people have thought about volunteering but don't really know enough about the opportunities that are
available - and they may not have the time to research each agency individually. By allowing 25 to 30 agencies to be present
in one location, it allows them to make good use of their time. They can visit various agencies and see which one seems
to be the best fit for their interests and skills.
Some of the agencies who will be at the Fairs this year include the
Girl Scouts, Girls' Inc., Big Brothers Big Sisters, Visiting Nurses, St. Thomas Clinic, Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation,
and The Boaz Project . We expect many more before the first fair at the Greenwood Public Library on February 20.
As a special note to anyone interested in attending the fair, and you should. This is the second year for the Volunteer Fairs.
Surveys of the attendees and the participating agencies last year were very positive and played a large role in our deciding to repeat
them this year.
