Enough is Enough-Mayor!!!
Wants citizens to pay for his waste and increase fees…again!
Greenwood seems to be it a shortfall again with money. It spends funds on luxury items not needed like lawyers, studies, aggressive sewer installation, raises, one time expenses repeated in budget.
The clerk treasurer Jeanne Myers and the sanitation accountant Pat Sherman, both warned the Mayor of money shortage two years ago. Yet the spending kept increasing by the Mayor and city council.
Yet this time Mayor Henderson says, “I don’t know where we are going to get the money to pay this bill”. Referring to the sanitation bill paid annually to the Indianapolis treatment plant where Greenwood sends its sewage.
The same Mayor says, “We budgeted it in the annual budget”. Yet seemingly without a hint of failure of operation, the Mayor boldly says, “I guess we will have to raise the rates”!
Now I will not white wash the issue (as some do) nor will I inject personal opinion. I will just state plain fact here.
Henderson is telling flat out lies! How can you budget something in the budget, spend the money for something else, and then cry about a shortfall in revenue? A shortfall you and the council was warned about two years ago. The Mayor Plainly stated the funds were allotted in the budget, right?
How does anyone see a million dollars floating around in their bankbook, and think they can just blow it on something else, forgetting where the funds were appropriated? That is just plain poor management from the city, council and sanitation accountant.
Raising the citizen rates for your negligence is silly, and wrong. Asking them to pay for your waste of their tax dollars is wrong! Then actually admitting you had the funds budgeted and spent them elsewhere is just plain stupid!
Mayor Henderson has been at the reins far to long when he can boldly make such statements and expects the citizens to clean up his wastefulness.
Excuses for failure to get a notice are no excuse. Try that one with your next car payment and see how that works? You will be walking.
Actually when a Mayor can make such statements and then admit the money was allotted, that Mayor needs to be put out of office.
Then put that on top of the fact the Mayor Henderson pays his second sidekick Pat Sherman YOUR tax dollars to be the city accountant for the sanitation department, the citizens are paying for many mistakes by Henderson and the city council. Any person can budget their bankbook much better. They know what they have in a balance, what is coming in the future, and what they can plan on spending. You would think a professional account such as Pat Sherman, and I say that with reservations, could at least know how much money they have to spend, right?
Nonetheless, again I remind you, the Mayor said, “We budgeted the payment in the annual budget”. Gee-Wiz Mayor did you think you could squander all the money you have been wasting and it not catch up with you? How many Bear-Face-Lies do you think the people are going to buy? How can you face the public and ask for another rate increase, to pay for your stupidity?
The questions could go on, but I’ll limit it. Why are you still in office, why don’t you just resign and give Greenwood some hope for the future? You are leaving a city in turmoil for the next Mayor, and YOUR name will be the one who is ruined. Lastly how could you have the gonad’s to run for State Representative and be such a liar?
Greenwood residents have now seen the forecasted tax increase happen. The city council voted unanimously Monday to raise the rate you pay to it’s maximum.
Some will see as much as a 3.0% increase in their tax bill. Greenwood claims that for years many residents tax rates have been allowed to be lowered because of the growth in the city. The increase of added revenue was adequate to keep the city going. Now there is no new build happening.
The lack of new building and the reduced promised road maintenance budget for this year is proof that Greenwood is spending far more than it takes in.
The city is claiming that this will give them the revenue to do road repair and build parks. That claim is not fact and as with most political claims from Greenwood , is false. Greenwood cannot and has not kept roads up, during Henderson’s tenure as Mayor.
Greenwood collects funds that are adequate to keep up roads, as stated by the Mayor and the director of operations, the past two years. Now the song seems to have a different verse added.
Greenwood is doing what every town across the country is doing. Seeking more revenue to balance the funding cuts for tax revenues the past year with tax caps.
What Greenwood is really saying we’re going to charge you the maximum tax rate because we can? This will allow us to get the entire tax cap that we can collect.
The sad part is no city; especially Greenwood is tightening its belt. Spending has increased regularly since election. Contrary to Henderson’s claims of freezing spending, he made just before election last term. Recalling he handed out one time expenses that he allowed to keep in that years budget, three months after the election. Thus in reality he increased spending. The following year the budget increase, the Mayor claims to a bare minimum.
