The Woodmen Scores in a game that has merit to only the Woodmen. While most would say this win means nothing they would be incorrect. It is important for the Woodmen to wrap up a dismal season with a couple of wins. This is the first and the final game will come the 22nd against New Palestine, a formidable foe.

Tony Robey # 10 had a fantastic night, but lets not forget the other players. If Robey was able to score that high it means that the others was demanding serious attention from the opposition. Apparently the opposition felt the others were a greater threat. That allowed Toney Robey the high score. Not to take anything away from Robey he is a fantastic player and often creates his own plays. But it is prudent to point out that often when a player gets such a high score it is often a direct result of the other players stepping up.

Nonetheless Indian Creek was good semi-final game of the season for the Woodmen. Many of the recent games have been nothing more than a repeat writing on the previous game. This is a positive happening and a win is a win, as the old saying goes. Hopefully the momentum can carry over in the game on the 22nd.

Gooooooooo Woodmen !!!!!!!!!

# 44 Matt Roehrig grabs rebound and returns it for a lay up. Rebounds were difficult for the Woodmen.

The third period started and some great things were happening for the Woodmen. Again they were constantly moving on the offense. “this was probably the most physical game we’ve played all year”, says coach Hensley. The size of the Dragons was a factor that the Woodmen really had no answer for, but was willing to bump hard and try to maintain some ground. The Third ended with the Dragons on top 29-35.

When the fourth began the Woodmen started a burst of really physical playing. A technique that many teams have used against the Woodmen themselves. But this time the Woodmen turned on the after burners and played magnificently. @ The 6:25 mark the Woodmen were within 1 point of tying the Dragons score @ 34-35. Then again @ 4:29 on the clock the Woodmen pulled back within 1 point @ 36-37. The rebounds were not coming to the Woodmen although they fought well the size of the Dragons showed prevalent. Then with the clock @ 2:46 the Woodmen at the Free through line the score tied @ 37-37 on the first free throw. The second free throw gave the Woodmen the lead @ 38-37. That’s a two-minute drought for the Dragons the Woodmen executed. But that was to be the end of a great effort. The Dragons size became an asset to the Dragons and they used it well pulling slightly ahead. The Woodmen were in trouble and the audience felt it. Coach Hensley called a time out @ the 0:52 sec mark and did the x&o’s dance on the chalkboard. After sending his team back in for nearly 20 secs, the coach called another time out. “They acted like they were lost”, coach Hensley says. “They just couldn’t execute the play and look confused”. That was to be the final timeout in the game. The Dragons won 38-47

It is prudent to point out that although the loss will be on record for the Woodmen’s final game of the season (except for sectionals). They played a great game, and it was just one of those times when the last two minutes fell apart. For the entire game the Woodmen played a fantastic game against a much larger team and held their own. Poor decisions in the final two minutes resulted in the Dragons winning, but that is just the way it is.

Thanks Woodmen………………

Woodmen play best physical game of year

But can’t slay Dragons & Gets loss 47-38

What was probably one of the most physical games the Woodmen have played all year was Friday, against The New Palestine Dragons. The game was an up & down match throughout most of the game. The Woodmen were playing well, but was allowing the Dragons to many rebounds. This was not by choice, the dragons have two guards under 6 ft. the remaining team is 6 ft or taller. Making a little difficult for the Woodmen to get many rebounds. The First period ended with the dragons leading 4-11.

During the second period the Woodmen came alive and started moving in and out, weaving and dodging, ducking and shooting very well. They had very few moments when they were not moving. The Woodmen fought to get back into the game at the end of the half trailing 18-21.
