Editors Note
During the recent Plainfield game, I was approached by two Greenwood women (no names) whom complained about the article I wrote on the JV cheerleaders performance being excellent and also the dismal performance of the varsity cheerleading squad at Conseco; Whom was doing a lot of standing around. Seemingly more concerned about what Roncalli was doing, rather than supporting the Woodmen. Video & Pictures support this.
We wish to foster only goodwill for our Woodmen and not ill feelings. We do apologize to those who have supported this page. But Peace is the ultimate goal not anger or hate
Since the Mommy’s and/or coach are going to whimper about that article, rather than see that their girls are doing their job, we have decided to suspend further coverage of the Varsity Squad.
No matter we were trying to get full support for the Woodmen, if that angers others then it is they who has the problem.
We thought it was about supporting the Woodmen, not the lack thereof. But then again, we can't always be correct.
Well like it or not we are going to say a few words on the Varsity Cheerleading for the Woodmen & Woodgirls
lately. It has been absolutely fabulous, especially when you consider there hasn’t been much to cheer about.
That’s
right the Cheerleaders have been working very hard and they deserve to be recognized. During the past few games the Cheerleaders have
had their hands full. The low scores and loss of games would have normally had a negative effect on the cheering. But somehow the
Woodmen Cheerleading has picked it up a notch and kept the chants & yelling in a steady stream.
When at
this past Tuesday’s game February 12th the Woodmen had their hands full against Southport and just couldn’t get into the game. Yet
the Cheerleading kept the fans and the Woodmen on a higher level because of their work ethic.
You think it’s
easy to stand for a couple of hours and keep cheering? Try it sometime and see how easy it is, it is something that is very hard to
do. And when your team is trailing it becomes an even more difficult task. The Woodmen Cheerleaders are to be commended for their
efforts, and especially during these past few weeks.
Thank you for the effort of the Woodmen Cheerleading squad
for your extraordinary efforts. Your constant cheers and seeming endless supply of energy has been an inspiration to the fans and
the Woodmen.
Anyway, we’re gonna’ write it because we know when to say thank you. And Greenwood
High School was the place to be this past Friday.
A big thank you goes to the Cheerleading squad and the pep squad. The final
game of the regular season and the cheerleading was a beautiful site, as well as very loud and uplifting. The pep squad was in good
form and was not afraid to let the Woodmen fans hear them. Friday Night was a great night for spectators and fans alike.
The cheerleaders were in overdrive and did an absolutely fantastic job. They flipped, flopped, hoisted themselves into the air, yelled
and kept the fans into the game. The opponents Cheerleading was in awe at the Greenwood Cheerleaders efforts, they were so astounded
that they could merely try to imitate, but to no avail. If you were a new comer to Greenwood sports you might have thought this was
the season opener and not the finale. The energy was sparking off the rafters and everyone did more than their part supporting the
Woodmen.
Thank you Girls for a job well done………………
